L'invocation d'Augustine, l'hystérique, 2009
Silver gelatin photographs, prints are approx. 50cm x 50cm
This series explores the role gesture plays in unveiling hidden truths of the self through a dialogue between my performative self-portraits and the photographs of Augustine in the Iconographie Photographique de la Salpetriere (clinical observations and photographic documentation recorded on hysteria during Dr Jean-Martin Charcot's term at the Salpetriere Clinic). *Charcot was one of the pioneers of psychiatric and neurological medicine.
